SITUATION
  • In East Malaysia, on Gaya Island, nestled on the edge of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, the resort is a 15 minute speed boat ride from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah. The Malaysia Kota Kinabalu Int’l Airport is 2.5 mi/4 km, 15 minutes from Sabah.
  • Gaya, which has an area of 9.2 square kilometres, is the largest of the National Park islands and boasts 26 kilometres of coastline, which is peppered with beautiful bays and numerous sandy beaches with fine white sand. The island is completely covered with a natural coastalforest, which offers refuge to large variety of plants and animals.
  • Quietly, beneath the grandeur of this resort, lays remarkable marine life, home to giant clams and happy clownfish that greet delighted snorkelers and divers on daily excursions.
DESCRIPTION
  • The 52 villas on stilts are architecturally built in the traditional and charming Borneo architectural style, are strung along the shoreline, in the shallow waters of the bay. The resort encompasses 3 restaurants and bars, an infinity edge swimming pool, sports and fitness centre, boat house and a Spa.
  • Striking the perfect balance of forward-thinking ecology and indulgent luxury, GAYANA MARINE RESORT pampers both the body and the enlightened soul. At its heart, the resort is about protecting our precious Marine Ecology and the only property with an on-site Marine Ecology Research Centre passionately propagating endangered Giant Clams and restoring natural coral reefs; where guests of all ages participate in restoring vibrant life back to once damaged ocean floors.

  • 12 Rainforest Villas with jungle view: (57sqm): are equipped with one bedroom with king size or twin beds, a spacious bathroom decorated in a natural way has a large shower and toilets. Extend the large panoramic window over the balcony a little wider and allow the gentle cicadas lullaby you to sleep. They can accommodate a child or an adult in extra bed.

An additional attraction of this villa with a direct access to the sea is that breakfast can be delivered via catamaran and served on the terrace.   • 8 Palm Villas with sea view (141sqm): are located in a secluded cluster off the resort’s main path, providing a remarkable view of the ocean. Constructed on stilts directly above the water, even equipped with stairs leading directly into the water. Two expansive living areas. The sanctuary, or main living area, is made especially for lounging, and features a glass floor that looks directly into the water. A generous bath with a large tub and a powerful rainshower. A private plunge pool and a daybed on the open deck.
